Starting 8 January 2019, all municipalities in Norway can have domain names where kommune.no is replaced by the three Sami names suohkan.no, gielda.no og tjielte.no.
The municipalities are free to decide which name or names they will use. The registration is done via a registrar, as with any other domain name.
Here are some examples of possible domain names:
- tromso.suohkan.no/tromsø.suohkan.no/romsa.suohkan.no
- tromso.gielda.no/tromsø.gielda.no/romsa.gielda.no
- snasa.tjielte.no/snåsa.tjielte.no/snåasen.tjielte.no
