Requirements for name servers under .no

Some requirements must be fulfilled by the DNS and name server configuration before a domain can be registered with Norid.

The policy for .no contains some technical requirements stating that the name servers (DNS) for a domain must be configured in advance and work technically before the domain can be registered or updated with Norid.

Whether the nameservers are set up correctly and are technically functional can be tested with Norid’s DNS test service. The tests should be error free before you ask the registrar to register or update the domain with Norid. The reason for this is that the same tests will be performed when the registrar submits the update through the Norid registration service, and the update will be rejected if an error is detected.
