one list with filtering options

Input from registrars and others have lead to today's launch of a new scheme for the registrar list.

The list is now presented as one list with filtering options based on the following criterias:

  • In which country the registrar is based
  • Whether the registrar is offering services to private individuals
  • A search field for all text strings in the registrar's name and address information, for example postal code or city

Two more criterias will be added:

  • Whether the registrar is offering DNSSEC.
  • Whether the registrar is a member of the registrar association Dot-Enno.

Datas are collected from the registrar web, and the registrar himself will have to maintain them under Admin/Public Data.

With regard to information on services to private individuals, this has up to now been limited to registrations under priv.no. However, from 17 June this mark will cover all name spaces where individuals may register domain names, i.e. directly under .no, under priv.no, and under the geographical domains.

The option of marking a membership in the registrar association Dot-Enno will be added as a new attribute under Admin/Public Data in a later release of the registry system. Here as well the registrar himself will be the one to maintain the information. DNSSEC will be activated when this service is launched in the second half of 2014.

The registrars will have the possibility to make comments that will be published in the list. The comments must be relevant for domain name applicants, for example that the registrar only offers services to specific customers.
