Registrar test part 3: Registration and maintenance of domain names

This part of the test is completed in an EPP client. You can either complete the test in your own preferred EPP client, or you can use Norid’s web client.

If you use your own EPP client in your production system, you should use the same client to complete the test, so that you can test your own systems against ours. See also our list of EPP software. If your EPP software does not support certain set-ups for required parameters, such as DNSSEC, you can use our EPP client for these specific assignments.

You have been provided with two test users, regID1 and regID2. You’ll need both to complete the test. You can set the EPP-password on the registrar web under Settings.

Registration

1 Register two organizations. One must have æ, ø or å in its name.
2 Register a private individual with the following data:

First name: Oppgitt
Last name: Lama
PID: N.PRI.30769612
3 Register a role.
4 Register two name servers.
5 Register a domain name. The domain name must contain the letters æ, ø or å.

As part of the registration, you must create and set a transfer code (AuthInfo).

Before the domain name can be registered, you have to make an applicant's declaration. You do this either by using your own tools, or Norid's web-based tool. The data set you receive with the finished declaration document should be submitted as a part of the domain name registration.

Updating

1 Update the mailing address for an organization.
2 Update the email address for a private individual.
3 Update a role with a new email address.
4 Update one of the name servers with a new technical contact.
5 Update the domain name with a new technical contact and a new name server.
6 Update the domain name with the following two DS posts (DNSSEC data):

7 Update the domain name by removing the DS post with the keytag 9504.

Transferring subscription

1 Transfer the domain name to a new holder. You must upload a new applicant's declaration for the new holder. The data set is applied as a part of the transfer.
2 Set a new transfer code (AuthInfo) for the domain name.

Changing registrars

1 The domain name will have a transfer code (AuthInfo), provided by the holder. Log on to the EPP client with regID2. Transfer the domain name to yourself. Use the transfer code (AuthInfo) from above, under “Transferring subscription”.
2 The domain has a transfer code (AuthInfo), but the holder can’t find the code. You then need to request a one-time password. Log in to your EPP client using regID1. Request a one-time password.
3 In the meantime, the customer has changed their mind and does not want to transfer the domain name after all. Cancel the process.
4 The customer changes their mind again. Request a new one-time password. Become the new registrar for the domain name using the one-time password simsalabim.

Continue a domain name subscription (renewal)

1 Continue the subscription for twelve months.

Withdraw as the registrar of a domain name

1 Withdraw as the registrar of a domain name.

Deleting objects

1 Delete the domain name.
2 Delete one of the contacts.
3 Delete a name server.
