Norid has asked the Norwegian Tax Administration for a ruling on whether registrars outside Norway should pay VAT. This ruling is not yet finished, and we have been granted a respite until 1 September.

As previously announced, the Norwegian Tax Administration has concluded that Norid's domain name business is taxable, thus obliging us to collect VAT on all fees that apply to the domain business. The start date was set to 1 July, but we have received a respite until the next VAT term to give the Tax Administration time to properly consider whether registrars outside Norway should pay VAT.

This means that invoices for registrations, renewals and holder transfers, and for other fees that apply to the domain business from Norid in July and August will not include VAT.
