KS and Norid have made an agreement on transfer of the responsibility for the cathegory domains kommune.no and herad.no. The change will probably be carried through in the first half of 2017.
The two cathegory domains will be run according to the same scheme as the rest of the cathegory domains which are run by Norid. The policy for allocating domain names which have been decided by KS will be continued. This means that only the local government authorities (kommune and fylkeskommune) are allowed to tegister domains under the two, and that they only can register their names.
More information will follow when the date of change is decided.
